Course description
CLIL methodology Dublin teacher training
ISI Dublin’s CLIL programme combines English language training with specialised modules in Content and Language Integrated Learning. CLIL is an approach where teachers use a foreign language, usually English, to teach subjects such as science, history or maths, allowing learners to develop both language and subject knowledge at the same time.
This course is designed for non-native teachers who want to improve their English language skills while learning practical strategies to integrate language development into their subject teaching. It is part of our Erasmus courses for teachers in Dublin, supporting educators who want to develop professionally through an international training experience in Ireland.
Course content
General English: Participants are assessed and placed in the appropriate CEFR level. The course includes orientation, needs analysis, setting learning outcomes, language focus and skills workshops, assessment of learning, one-to-one feedback and certificate presentation.
Specialised CLIL modules: Teachers gain a thorough understanding of CLIL principles, explore effective methodologies, examine lesson frameworks and develop teaching strategies for integrating language and subject content. Participants also learn to adapt and create materials for teaching subjects through English and share best practices from diverse teaching contexts.
Teachers who want to focus mainly on English language development can also view our Semi-intensive General English course for teachers or our Intensive General English course for teachers.
