Intensive General English
Format
- 25 hours: 15 hours of General English + 10 specialised modules in English.
- 20 hours: 15 hours + 5 hours elective lesson.
- Times: 8.00 – 1.25 pm.
- Suitable for A1 to C1 students
Course description
This Intensive General English course gives participants the opportunity to develop their language skills as well as their grammar and vocabulary with intensive immersion in very dynamic international classes. This course is delivered by ISI’s very experienced ESL teachers with a focus on communicative methodology and authentic everyday interaction for the development of real language.
Course content
General English: Testing and classing participants in the appropriate CEFR level, Orientation, Needs analysis, Setting learning outcomes, Language focus and language skills, Skills workshops, Assessment of learning and review of learning, One to one feedback at the end of the course, Certificate presentation
Setting learning outcomes, General English skills, Pronunciation activities, Communicative activities, Writing assignments and feedback, Communicative project, Assessment of learning outcomes, Progress test and Feedback. The teaching of this course is based on a communicative approach, which means students always focus on real life communication, exchanging ideas, opinions and experiences that are meaningful and therefore everlasting.
Specialised modules: In addition to the General English 15 programme, this 25 hour programme includes 10 specialised elective lessons each week which you can choose after your arrival. Elective examples include: Conversation Skills; Examination Preparation (FCE, CAE, IELTS); Grammar and Writing; Pronunciation; Teacher training modules (if available).

Meet your teacher:

David has worked in ISI for ten years. He has a degree in History and Geography, a Masters in Environmental Planning and and a CELTA course to teach English. His favourite part of the working week is teaching about Irish history, culture and society in the History club in the school. He has lived in France and Argentina and in his free time loves running, watching movies and travelling.
